Full Control: Resonant weapon tier list ranking all main and side weapon forms, with damage, stagger and crit details to help you pick the right loadout.

Weapon forms ranked in Control: Resonant
Six mutation forms, two slots — here is how they stack up.

Every weapon in Control: Resonant comes with its own mutation forms, and both of Dylan's weapon slots are filled through choices you make as the main story unfolds. That makes the picks matter: below, all six forms are ranked by overall usefulness across the whole game, judged on both raw strength and general applicability.

Main weapon rankings

Dylan picks one of three main weapon forms, ranked here from most to least useful.

Main weapon forms compared in Control: Resonant
Main forms: the dependable all-rounder leads the pack.
Weapon Tier Why it ranks here
Broad Axe S The all-rounder of the set, close to a longsword in a fantasy game. Speed and power are both solid enough that nothing feels missing, and it deals bonus damage from behind — a nudge toward the dodging playstyle Control: Resonant keeps encouraging anyway.
Swift Daggers A Twin daggers built for speed over damage, carrying a 30% critical hit rate. The Broad Axe still edges them out, but they remain a very dependable single-target option: quick hits, high mobility, easy to stay nimble with.
Whip Staff B A scythe-like weapon with wide sweeping arcs that clip several enemies at once and knock them back. It owns the highest raw damage of the three main forms, but moves slowly and is harder to master blow by blow. Great against packs of weak enemies — except Dylan's later abilities cover that job, which is why it lands third.

Side weapon rankings

The three side forms become available early — after first leaving the Oldest House, within roughly the opening hour — and Dylan picks one of them as well.

Weapon Tier Why it ranks here
Heavy Hammer S Easily the best side weapon. A giant hammer with huge damage and a massive stagger buildup, whose charge attack is nowhere near as slow as it looks. Better still, it staggers many enemies outright, letting you chain long hammer strings while they can barely respond — and all that stagger means combos frequently end in an execution.
Extension A A sweeping whip and the lowest damage of the three side forms, but the most flexible, able to strike several opponents at once. Not flawless — its charge attack roots Dylan in place, so timing has to be precise — yet faster-paced players may feel right at home.
Drill B A thrusting spear that lets Dylan dash at opponents. The opening moves come out fast, but follow-up attacks need to be folded into slower strings to reach full effect, making it the clumsiest of the three. Its niche: precise strikes against exposed weak points.

How to read these rankings

Tiers reflect usefulness in normal play, not raw damage alone. The Whip Staff technically hits hardest among main forms, but crowd control is exactly what Dylan's supernatural abilities already do — which is why a slower crowd weapon ranks below the two weapons that excel at every other fight.
