Making Dylan stronger in Control: Resonant comes down to two actions: unlocking nodes in his talent tree and buying upgrades for his weapons. Both happen in the Dream Hollow — the strange space inside Dylan's own mind. This page walks through character upgrades, weapon upgrades, and how Anomaly Power ties the whole system together.
Where upgrades happen: the Dream Hollow
Two interactable objects anchor the hub:
- The object with multiple stones opens the talent tree, where every one of Dylan's unlockable character upgrades lives.
- The large pillar opens the weapon upgrade nodes for every available weapon, and is also where you can buy additional weapons as needed.
Spending talent points
Each talent upgrade costs one Talent Point, and the only source is Zone Level: raising any zone's level by one grants exactly one point. The tree itself behaves like skill trees in most RPGs — bottom nodes must be unlocked before anything above them opens. Every talent brings a unique buff, a stat increase, or a new skill state, and collectively they make combat noticeably easier.
Upgrading your weapons
Unlocking any weapon upgrade requires the matching materials. Every upgrade consumes Source, a common material earned by defeating enemies, and deeper upgrades also ask for specific resources such as Warped Forms, which come from defeated enemies, opened chests and completed tasks.
One quirk of the system is easy to miss: as long as you have not left the Dream Hollow, every completed upgrade can be reset for free. Step back into the normal world and that window closes — from then on, resetting anything requires a reset item. Test your build before you leave.
How it all feeds Anomaly Power
Every unlocked upgrade counts toward Anomaly Power, one of the main stats that determines your effective character level. This is where the counterintuitive advice comes in: rather than pumping only your favorite mutation form, unlock and upgrade all of the mutation forms. Even the ones you never use raise your base raw damage and stagger damage, because the total is shared.
Anomaly Power also doubles as an underleveled alarm. A skull marker beside an enemy's health bar means your level is running low for that area — the fix is some combination of raising Anomaly Power, total health, Skill Energy, or other stats through the talent tree.
Quick routine
- Raise Zone Levels to earn Talent Points.
- Spend them in the Dream Hollow talent tree, bottom nodes first.
- Buy weapon upgrade nodes at the pillar with Source and the required materials.
- Review everything with free resets before leaving the Dream Hollow.
